1. General Information on Data Protection

The protection of personal data is important to us. This Privacy Policy informs users about which personal data is processed in connection with the Minecraft server “CherrySMP”, the webstore, support requests, and the community.

Personal data means any information that can directly or indirectly identify a natural person. This includes, for example, names, email addresses, IP addresses, Minecraft usernames, UUIDs, transaction data, or technical usage data.

The processing of personal data is carried out in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG), and other applicable data protection regulations.

3. Webstore and Payment Processing through Tebex

Our webstore is operated through Tebex. Payment processing is carried out through Tebex and/or through the payment providers integrated during checkout. Tebex may act as payment processor, seller, or merchant of record.

When purchasing digital content, ranks, virtual goods, keys, crates, cosmetics, memberships, or other server-related services, Tebex may process, in particular, the following data:

  • Minecraft username, username, or similar identifier
  • Email address
  • Billing and contact details, if provided during checkout
  • Transaction data, purchase date, purchased products, and order numbers
  • Payment status and information related to payment processing
  • IP address and technical device/browser information
  • Webstore usage data
  • Support and communication data, if a request is submitted

Tebex processes this data in particular for the purpose of carrying out orders, processing payments, preventing fraud, providing digital content, fulfilling legal obligations, handling refunds, chargebacks, and support requests, as well as technically securing the webstore.

As the server operator, we only receive from Tebex such information that is required for the provision, verification, and management of the purchased server-related services. This may include, in particular, the Minecraft username, purchased products, order status, transaction number, purchase time, and, where applicable, contact details provided in the Tebex panel.

We do not receive or store full credit card details, full bank details, or PayPal login credentials. These payment details are not processed directly by us, but by Tebex and the respective integrated payment providers.

The privacy notices of Tebex also apply to data processing carried out by Tebex. These can be accessed during the Tebex checkout process or through the Tebex website.

4. Legal Bases for Processing

Personal data is processed on the following legal bases:

  • Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, where processing is necessary for the performance of a contract or for pre-contractual measures.
  • Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR, where there is a legal obligation to process data, for example tax or commercial retention obligations.
  • Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, where processing is necessary to protect legitimate interests, for example server operation, fraud prevention, abuse prevention, security, support, and enforcement of server rules.
  • Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, where explicit consent has been given, for example for certain optional features or marketing measures.

5. Data Processing on the Minecraft Server

When joining and using the Minecraft server “CherrySMP”, technically necessary personal data may be processed. This includes, in particular:

  • Minecraft username
  • Minecraft UUID
  • IP address
  • Time of login and logout
  • Gameplay activities and server-related progress
  • Chat messages and commands, insofar as they are stored in server logs
  • Inventory, rank, permission, economy, and game progress data
  • Security and moderation data such as warnings, mutes, bans, or reports

This data is processed in order to technically provide the server, assign player accounts, store game progress, provide purchases, manage permissions and ranks, prevent cheating and abuse, enforce server rules, and ensure secure server operation.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, insofar as the processing is necessary for the use of the server, as well as Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR based on our legitimate interest in secure, fair, and functional server operation.

6. Support via Email and Discord

If users contact us by email, Discord, or a support system, we process the information required to handle the request. This may include:

  • Name or username
  • Email address
  • Discord name or Discord ID
  • Minecraft username and UUID
  • Order numbers, transaction data, or screenshots
  • Content of the support request

This data is used to handle support requests, verify purchases, solve technical issues, review rule violations, or communicate with users.

When using Discord, Discord’s privacy policy also applies. We do not have full control over data processing carried out by Discord.

7. Cookies, Technical Data, and Webstore Usage

When visiting the webstore, technically necessary cookies, server logs, and similar technologies may be used. These serve, in particular, to make the webstore functional, manage shopping carts, enable logins, ensure security, and prevent fraud.

In addition, Tebex may use its own cookies, analytics functions, or technical services. The exact processing carried out by Tebex is governed by Tebex’s privacy notices and cookie notices.

8. Disclosure of Data to Third Parties

Personal data is only disclosed if this is necessary for the respective service, if there is a legal obligation, if consent has been given, or if there is a legitimate interest.

Recipients of personal data may include, in particular:

  • Tebex Limited for webstore, checkout, payment processing, and purchase delivery
  • Payment providers integrated during the Tebex checkout process
  • Hosting providers of the Minecraft server
  • Discord, if support or community functions are used through Discord
  • Technical service providers, security services, or plugin providers, where necessary
  • Authorities or legal advisors, where there is a legal obligation or legal enforcement

We do not disclose personal data to third parties for advertising purposes without consent.

9. Storage Period

Personal data is stored only for as long as necessary for the respective purposes or as long as statutory retention obligations exist.

Server logs are generally stored only for as long as they are required for security, error analysis, abuse prevention, or evidentiary purposes.

Data relating to purchases, transactions, and invoices may be stored for a longer period due to statutory retention obligations.

Support requests are deleted or anonymized when they are no longer required for processing and traceability, unless legal obligations or legitimate interests prevent deletion.

10. No Processing of Special Categories of Personal Data

We do not intend to process special categories of personal data within the meaning of Art. 9 GDPR. This includes, in particular, data relating to health, religion, political opinions, trade union membership, sexual orientation, ethnic origin, or biometric data.

Users are requested not to provide such information in chat, support, or the webstore.

11. Rights of Data Subjects

Data subjects have the following rights in accordance with statutory provisions:

13. Security
